Savion Glover (born November 19, 1973 in Newark, New
Jersey) is an African-American actor, tap dancer and choreographer. He
came to prominence in 1996, starring in the George C. Wolfe-produced
musical Bring In 'Da Noise, Bring In 'Da Funk. He also was a cast member
on Sesame Street and starred in Spike Lee's 2000 film Bamboozled.
Classical Savion® is a marriage of the
improvisational elements of the Jazz tap tradition and structured themes
of Classical music. Backed by a string ensemble, Savion Glover® taps
through a range of pieces from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons to Bach’s
Brandenburg concerti, all while maintaining the rhythmical intensity this
style of dance is known for. With his dazzling feet, Glover defines what
tap dancing means today and adds variety to the performance by featuring
his jazz quartet in the finale Stars & Stripes Forever (For Now).
Classical Savion® serves as an aural platform for unifying both the Jazz
and Classical worlds, taking stylistic highlights of each discipline and
emphasizing shared musical themes throughout. Miami Performing
